Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Mike which I’m sure you’ve figured out lol. I’m originally from Cheltenham Gloucestershire which is in the beautiful Cotswolds in England. I moved to Canada in my early twenties and for the most part have lived here since.
My introduction to photography came from my father who was a keen amateur who would even shoot a few friends weddings on occasions. I would tag along and watch but it was not until after I had moved to Canada that I started to take it seriously and started reading all the books I could get my hands on at the local library. Like many I became self taught and started out by taking friends family pictures before moving into the wedding scene.
A lot has changed in the thirty or so years I have been taking pictures the biggest and greatest is of course the onset of digital cameras and manipulating software such as Photoshop and Lightroom. With instant feedback in the form of a digital image one can know immediately if camera settings need to be changed etc. No longer are we at the mercy of the photo lab to interpret the negatives and provide prints we can do all that ourselves. Plus, if you are not exactly sure how to do something you can be sure someone else has and all you need to do is Google it!!
I often get asked, “How many pictures do you take?” I find this kind of amusing as my answer is always the same, “As many as needed to provide you with what you are looking for.” It’s not the quantity of pictures that are important but the quality of pictures. I like to discuss in detail with each client before each assignment so I have a clear understanding of what you are looking for.
I invite you to have a look around and please contact me if you have any questions or comments.
